Frequently Asked Questions

What should I expect from a worship service?

If it’s your first time coming to Good Shepherd, we understand that you may feel slightly nervous. We offer a welcoming setting to accommodate visitors, including ushers who will greet you as you enter the sanctuary. They will answer any questions you may have. Our typical service length is about 45 minutes, including reflection, prayer, readings from scripture, music, and a sermon. Our provided bulletins will guide you to hymns and pages in the prayer book. We encourage you to be yourself when you arrive and to participate in what you feel is suitable for you.

Is there a dress code for worship services?

Most people wear casual clothing; some wear dressier attire, while others will wear jeans and sweaters. We emphasize the freedom to feel comfortable wearing whatever you feel is appropriate.

Do you have to become a member to receive communion?

All are welcome to experience the sacrament of communion regardless of your church affiliation. Those who do not wish to participate are still welcome to come through the communion line and receive a blessing. No one who comes forward for communion will be turned away.

What is most different about Good Shepherd compared to other churches?

The three biggest characteristics of Good Shepherd are generosity, community and compassion. We are always willing to lend a hand or support to people in need and to unite local families and friends within a down-to-earth environment. Also, we are committed to modeling Jesus empathy and love towards everyone, just like God extends grace to everyone.

What are Good Shepherd’s immediate goals?

The world has certainly changed in the recent months. Yet, the message of Christ stays the same. The challenge we all face and the goal that drives us now as much as ever is to answer the changes of our world while being both faithful and responsible. We engage this goal and continue to look for and follow the teachings of Jesus.

What type of people are members and attend the church?

At Good Shepherd, we accept and offer love to all people. This friendly atmosphere embraces families and individuals who are curious and care for one another. There is no judgment here, and we believe in paying it forward with kindness.

Is the congregation open to collaboration and additional ideas?

Yes! We believe in being open-minded to future possibilities and nurturing them, especially if they can make an impact. We view our role as helping people participate in God's work in the world and discover their own gifts. Suppose you have a positive concept to help advance the congregation, community or even change the world. In that case, we want to hear from you! We view our role as helping people participate in God's work in the world and discover their own gifts.
