Children's Ministry
Good Shepherd’s youngest worshippers have a special place to grow within and eventually contribute to strengthening our community. The Children’s Ministry concentrates on all those younger than 11, helping them develop in life and their faith. The activities and events are fun, energetic, and secure for new kids to become involved.

Sunday School
Good Shepherd’s Sunday School is for children 3 years old through 5th grade. During June - August, they gather at the 10am service. Through the regular program year, they gather during the 11 am service. On the first Sunday of the month, all Sunday School Students attend the beginning of the church service for a children’s message. This allows children to have fun and become interactive while their parents get to experience focused worship. After their dismissal, they meet with a teacher and go to their classroom. While in the classroom, the children will participate in different types of activities all focused on a particular Bible story and theme. Click on the Sunday School Activity Page button to access the most recent activity page for use at home. Contact Mrs. Lori for the password to these great resources.
Early Childhood Ministry
This ministry focuses on building friendships and supporting parents raising their infants and toddlers while getting to know Jesus. On Sundays at the 11 am service, Good Shepherd provides a staffed nursery close to the worship service, where parents can leave their children while focusing on worship. Parents are welcome to stay in the nursery with their child and view the worship service on a closed-circuit monitor. Parents have an opportunity to enroll in Frolic, which is a newsletter that is received through email and provides faith-building activities at home.
Fellowship Events
There are many fellowship events that Good Shepherd hosts every year. While many of these events center on families with children, people of all ages are welcome to join. Check the Events page or newsletter for upcoming church events. If you have any questions, please contact Mrs. Lori. Some of these regular events are:
-
Trunk or Treat
-
Gingerbread House Decorating Night
-
Easter Eggstravaganza
-
Windy City Thunderbolts Baseball Game
Vacation Bible School
For a week every summer, Good Shepherd Lutheran Church hosts our annual Vacation Bible Study (VBS). During this week, students from age 3 through completed 5th Grade are invited to come and sing, learn, make crafts, and have fun as they hear about God and how he cares for them and our world. The dates for VBS are typically published in March with registration beginning in June. Check back here for updates regarding next summer's details.
