Youth Ministry at Good Shepherd
Good Shepherd values youth and young adults. Outside of including them in the regular activities of the congregation, we have an abundance of programs and events geared towards this age group. The opportunities for our 6th – 12th graders can be found below:

Junior High Ministry and Confirmation
Confirmation at Good Shepherd is a 3 year program. The 6th grade class meets on Monday evening. During this year, the class learns about the Luther's Small Catechism. 7th grade also meets on Monday evenings and spends their year studying the Bible. The Fall semester is dedicated to the Old Testament and the Spring semester is dedicated to learning about the New Testament. The 8th grade year meets on Sunday mornings between services and focuses on decision making and life choices. The big project for the 8th grade year is the Witness to the Faith, where each students prepares a 2-3 minute speech about their faith and what it means to be a Christian and presents it to our church family during a worship service.
In addition to Confirmation classes, there are fun fellowship activities that are meant to strengthen relationships and provide opportunities for helping others.
Our Junior High Students are encouraged to volunteer in Sunday School, help with church wide fellowship events, and Vacation Bible School. These Ministry Programs are a vital part of our church family and have volunteer opportunities for people of all ages. Community service hours that are often needed for school can be earned by volunteering for these activities.

High School Ministry
Our High School Ministry at Good Shepherd consists of fellowship events, service projects, and a summer Mission Trip (two out of every three years) or attending the ELCA Youth Gathering (every three years). The summer trip is an opportunity for students to strengthen friendship while growing in faith and helping others. The trip for 2019 took us to Indianapoilis, IN. Another opportunity is to participate in a student led worship service every year. This service typically takes place in February.
In addition, our High School Students are welcome to volunteer in Sunday School and other church wide events such as Vacation Bible School. These volunteer opportunities are not only a great way to exercise and discover ones God given gifts, they are also a helpful towards completing the community service hours required by schools or other clubs.
