Children's Ministry at Good Shepherd

Our youngest worshipers have a special place at Good Shepherd. Our Children’s Ministry focuses on all those 5th grade and younger to help them grow in their faith. This ministry is fun, energetic and always open to involvement from new volunteers. If you are interested in knowing more or helping with these great young people, please contact Lori Puttkammer.

Sunday School

Good Shepherd's Sunday School is for children who are three years old through 5th grade.

During the months of June - August, Sunday School meets during the 10:00 service, allowing children to go to Sunday School while parents attend worship.  Summer Sunday School meets in Bethany Hall every Sunday.

During the regular program year, Sunday School meets during the 11:00 am service.  On the first Sunday of the month, all Sunday School Students attend the beginning of worship.  After the Children's Message is presented, the children are dismissed to the Narthex where they meet their teacher and go to their classroom.  On other Sundays, children gather in Bethany Hall for a 20 minute group opening which is modeled after a worship service and then go to their classrooms to get hands on with the lesson for the day.  Once a month, the opening message is delivered by The Good News Gang puppet ministry that is directed by Jan Nelson.

If  you would like to enroll your child in Sunday School or get to know more about our Sunday School program, please contact Lori Puttkammer.

Early Childhood Ministry

Our Early Childhood Ministry is designed to support parents as they strive to raise their infants and toddlers to know Jesus.  On Sundays at the 11:00 service, we have a staffed nursery close to the sanctuary where parents can leave their children while they worship.  If you attend the 9:00 service, you are welcome to stay in the nursery with your child and can see the worship service on a television and hear the service through a speaker.  Each child within this age range can also be enrolled in an e-newsletter that is emailed to the parents that offers faith building activities that can be done at home for your child's age level.  In addition, activities for families with children in this age range are offered to allow opportunities to build friendships with each other and support each other.  If you have questions about our Early Childhood Ministry, please contact Lori Puttkammer.
